Who is it aimed at?

Head teachers and others in schools with responsibility for managing health, safety and wellbeing. The LEA strongly recommends that all head teachers attend this training.

What are the objectives?

This nationally recognised qualification provides head teachers and others with the knowledge and skills to be able to identify their health, safety & wellbeing responsibilities and develop and implement effective risk management procedures.

 

Key areas covered during the four days include

 

·         Understanding your health & safety roles and responsibilities

·         The practical application of relevant health and safety legislation

·         Identifying key health and safety risks in schools

·         An introduction to risk assessments and effective risk control measures in schools

·         Developing, implementing and maintaining effective safety management systems to reduce accidents, injuries and ill health

·         Implement and maintain monitoring systems that will measure the effectiveness of health and safety management systems

·         Principles of effective accident investigation

 

The course is evaluated by means of a multiple choice examination comprising of a mixture of short and multiple choice questions plus the submission of a work- based assignment.
