Who is it aimed at?

School staff who are frequent users of ladders and/or stepladders. May include caretakers, site managers, technicians and other staff identified by the school

What are the objectives?

Provide users of ladders and/or stepladders with the knowledge and skills to reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries associated with their use.

 

Key areas covered include:

 

  • Legislation and regulations affecting the management of working at height.
  • Product standards and classifications for ladders and stepladders.
  • Inspecting ladders and stepladders including fault finding
  • Selecting appropriate equipment

·     Hazards associated with the use of ladders and stepladders.

 

On completion of the course each delegate will be issued with a BLMA Certificate and Training Scheme Photo Identification Card. This accreditation is valid for five years

How will it make a difference?

To reduce the risk of serious injuries and possible fatalities associated with the incorrect selection and use of ladders and stepladders in schools.

 

This will assist the school to comply with its requirements under the Work at Heights Regulations 2005
