Governor Support
The Regional Support, Challenge and Intervention Framework (RSCIF)
Following collaboration across the six counties of swamwac, a Regional Support, Challenge and Intervention Framework (RSCIF) was introduced in September 2010 "to promote a common language, process and understanding in school improvement across the region". In Carmarthenshire, the RSCIF replaced the Good Practice, Support & Challenge Framework, which had been in operation since 2001.

The continuum - which is largely based on Estyn's Common Inspection Framework - is designed to be used within schools, and also by schools and their link SIO in partnership.  Its purpose is to support school self-evaluation through promoting dialogue and discussion in relation to a school's strengths and priorities for improvement. It will also be used, in partnership with a school's link SIO, to determine the level of additional support required by the school.

At school level, the completed RSCIF is discussed, annually, in a meeting between the headteacher, chair of governors and link SIO.

At local authority level, the key messages from completed RSCIF across the county are reported, annually, to the Scrutiny Committee.
