25th November 2009 - Important message - Elaine Evans GTCW CPD Funding Programme
e-mail address: elaine.evans@gtcw.org.uk
You would have heard the disappointing news that the Welsh Assembly government has decided to cut the individually focussed CPD Funding Programme from April 2010. This means that from then, teachers will not be able to apply for a Bursary, International Bursary, Action Research Project; Teacher Sabbatical or Professional Network grants.
It is not surprising that the number of applications received have dropped significantly following WAG’s announcement. Therefore, we still have plenty of funding remaining for the current financial year. I would be very grateful for your assistance in communicating the availability of this funding for individual teachers by displaying the following paragraph on your website/course documentation:
Teachers working in LEA-maintained schools in Wales may be eligible for funding from the General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW) through their professional development funding programme. Please refer to the GTCW’s CPD Funding Programme Information Booklet or contact the Professional Development Team for further guidance:

The CPD Team will be pleased to provide you with further advice and support.
Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss any of the above. I thank you for your assistance.
